the 'bachelor pad' table gets a makeover...

When Brad and I got married I 'inherited' this super fabulous coffee table.  I'll admit, I wasn't a fan.  I love wood furniture, but I'm a bit on the picky side.  If it isn't finished in a deep espresso finish I don't really want it in my house. {even if it's free!} :)  I do however love to get my hands on a great piece of furniture and transform it with my favorite medium... paint.  Paint seems to make everything better.  So once my husband relinquished his kung-fu grip on this blessed table, the design wheels began to turn.

The Plan:  something simple and inexpensive... bead board panels, bonding primer, a quart of honey colored paint, dark brown glaze {my own concoction}, and a polycrylic finish.
And the bachelor pad table gets a total overhaul makeover!  And in 2 days no less... which is pretty good with a newly walking, 14mo. old running around the house getting into everything.
in process
Ta-Da!  I am very happy with the finished look.  {it is the same table, I promise}

love the blue knobs
I paneled the three sides and left the front with the drawers open as a bookshelf.

And added a little distressed effect for texture and dimension.
I've painted furniture for other people for years, but never for myself {I have no idea why}... well, here's to the first of many projects.  Maybe Brad has some more furniture in storage that I can paint!

drum roll please...

The Millers are having a...
BOY!!!

Yes, we are adding a little testosterone to the mix. Brad is very happy about this!
I can't tell you how excited I am to venture off on this new journey. Every one of my friends (and sis-in-laws) who have both sons and daughters say there is nothing like raising a son and this is something I am super excited to experience myself. I love all 3 of my daughters so much, but the thought of raising a son sparks a realm of emotions.

1. I am sooooo nervous... probably because after 3 girls I pretty much know what to expect with a girl... boys are soooooo different. I hope I figure it out okay!
2. I've watched my brother and his amazing wife raise 3 sons and I am so excited to have that relationship with my child that my sis-in-law has with her sons.
3. I got to hold my 2 month old nephew at the temple sealing of my brother and his family the other day... there was just something about that experience that melted my heart. I can't wait to hold my sweet little boy.
4. I am experiencing all of this with an amazing, incredible, and very excited husband... I love him so much and am so excited to share this entire experience with him and watch as he becomes a daddy.

So, everyone in the Miller home is over-the-top excited about the baby boy that will be joining our family sometime late April. My daughters have always wanted a brother... this little boy is one lucky little guy... he will have 4 moms and a dad. There will be no shortage of love, kisses, holding and cuddling.

The Baptism...

I still can't believe that Krystian is 8 years old, but it true...
Krystian was baptized on December 5th.
She had been talking about her baptism non-stop for about 4 months. Let's just say she was super excited to be baptized!
Brad baptized her... she asked him to. A bunch of Krystian's little friends came, and so did her grandparents, aunt, uncle and a bunch of cousins.

My favorite memory of the day was right after Krystian was baptized and all of her friends came rushing up to her wanting to hug her... I told them to wait just a couple of minutes while she dries off. I just thought it was so cute that they all wanted to hug her even though she was sopping wet!

Afterward, the girls, Brad and myself went to dinner with our "bestest" friends Natalie, Micah and London. Krystian wanted to go to the Mayan... it was so fun watching all the girls get so excited during the thunderstorms and cliff diving at the restaurant.
It was the perfect ending to a perfect day...

It's My Birthday... YAY To Me!!!

My babygirl, Kayla turned 14 on the 26th of June. She is growing up WAY too fast... When did this happen? Seriously!

Kayla is such a fun~loving, outgoing girl. Her favorite things right now... sleeping in, boys, text messages, cherry coke, friends, swimming, violin, dance/cheer and running.

Happy birthday babygirl!

We celebrated her birthday a few days late. Kayla got to spend her birthday on the Pioneer Trek this year... she turned 14 just in time to attend youth conference! They celebrated her birthday on the trek (pioneer style) and despite all the grief she gave me before going, she had a fantabulous time!!!

Kayla is my "traditions" girl... she loves to celebrate traditions, as well as make them up along the way. She started a birthday tradition a while back where everyone writes a birthday wish on one of the birthday girl's balloons and we send it off into the sky. Most of Kayla's well wishers commented on the fact that in only 2 short years she'll be driving a car. Um... I'm not really ready to accept that yet okay!!!

The family helped us celebrate. Cammy just had to smash a cupcake on Kayla. Lucky for Kayla she's pretty quick and Cammy got her shoulder instead of her face! Good try though Cam...

A sunny spring day...

After spending pretty much the entire month of April cooped up in the house I was completely elated to get the heck out of here!!! I was surprised when the sweet guy in my life... Brad... rescued me from what feels like eternal house arrest and took me out for a relaxing, much needed day out!
He took me to one of my favorite restaurants.... Harvest (down at Thanksgiving Point) and then to the Tulip Festival there. I was soooo excited... I was sure that I was going to miss going to the festival this year, so the outing was a GREAT surprise! It is one of my spring favorites I look forward to every year!
...I didn't even have to ask him to take me there... (aaaaaawwwe sweet I know!)

The gardens were incredibly beautiful and so peaceful.... just what the "patient" ordered! :)

Lots of pics... enjoy...
